Abstract
Primary implant stability is an important factor concerning the long term success rate of an implant. Implant placement in intraoral sites like posterior maxilla has the lowest success rate due to its low-density bone. Many surgical techniques such as bicortical fixation of the implant, undersized preparation of implant bed and condensation with osteotomes have been introduced to improve the implant stability in the low-density bone. A new promising technique, osseodensification, has been recently introduced which conserves the bone by compaction of bone along the walls of the osteotomy preparation. This technique emphasises on improving the bone density at the osteotomy site and increases the primary stability of the implant.
