Abstract
Studies reveal that Acetylene gas produced from calcium carbide (CaC2) is renewable in nature and exhibits similar properties to that of hydrogen. An experimental investigation has been carried out on a single cylinder, Spark ignition (SI) engine tested with pure petrol and petrol - Acetylene dual fuel mode with diethyl ether as an oxygenated additive. Experiments are going to conduct to study the performance characteristics of a petrol engine in dual fuel mode by aspirating Acetylene gas in the inlet manifold, with petrol- diethyl ether blends as an ignition source.
