Enrichment of black cotton soil using demolished crushed concrete from Maradu

Some natural resources such as gravel are not renewable, therefore, it is necessary to reduce the use of such resources and replace them with other recycled, economic, and environmentally friendly materials. Recycled crushed concrete aggregates demolished from old buildings and blocks of waste concrete can be used to replace the natural aggregates. The present study focused on using recycled crushed concrete in improving the geotechnical properties of soft soil having undrained shear strength of 4.15 K Pa. The soft soil samples were mixed with 5, 10, and 15% of crushed concrete. The blocks of waste concrete are grinded by mills to get crushed concrete which passing sieve no. 4.75. Such aggregates are lighter than natural aggregates and provide a good deformation modulus when mixed with soil.

Framework for classification of music based on tempo using Naïve Bayes and cloud storage

Music is considered as one the best form of expression of emotions. The music that people hear is governed by what mood they are in. The characteristics of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, pitch, and timbre play a major role in human physiology and psychological functions, thus altering their mood. The Naive Bayes classifier is considered a popular classification technique in machine learning. It’s been shown to be very effective on a range of test data sets. However, the strong assumption that each attribute is independent of each other is often violated in real-world problems. In this paper, we have applied locally weighted Naïve Bayes to data stored within cloud to automate the process of classification of music.

Design and implementation of floating point processor

The floating point processor is the backbone of digital signal processing units. In real time applications it is necessary to have a powerful processor which has a very high level of precision. This can only be achieved using a floating point unit.We are going to incorporate various instructions which will be serving for a dynamic range of applications. The floating point unit needs to be fast enough to process real time signals. An efficient design of the floating point processor can help in reducing the area and increasing the speed.

Smart waste management using IoT

Many times in the current situation we see that the trash cans or Dustbins are put in the public squares of the city that are overflowing every day due to a rise in the waste. It produces unhygienic conditions for people and produces an unpleasant smell in the local environment, which leads to the spread of certain deadly diseases and human disease. With a rapid growth in population, sanitation problems with regard to waste management are tremendously deteriorating. With rapid population growth, sanitation-related problems with regard to garbage management are extremely degrading. “Smart Waste Management using IoT" is the latest, evolving solution to avoid this problem. Public dustbins will be supported in the proposed system with embedded devices that helps to track the amount of garbage in the garbage bins in real time. Analysing the constant data collected would help municipal and government authorities develop smart waste management strategies with the help of reports produced by various systems.

BIM-understanding, its drivers and challenges in the Indian Construction Industry

With the rapid rise in AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operation & Maintenance) industry, there was a need to reinvent the conventional construction practice and project delivery system. The digitization of data resulted in the formation of Building Information and Modelling (BIM) which revolutionized the AEC industry. BIM offers the integrated ability of properties, materials, life-cycle and other data with added facilities of interoperability, facility management, construction management, risk management and leadership in energy and environmental design. Since 2000 BIM is considered to be a major breakthrough in the construction industries which not only delivers the projects but also tackles the operation and maintenance of the delivered project. BIM provides the 7D environment i.e. (x.y, z) axis, time, cost, sustainability and facility management, further research is being going on to achieve nD environment. This research aims at the growth drivers and the challenges faced for adoption of BIM in Indian construction projects through questionnaire survey for different user and discuss the risk, challenges, reason and interest in adoption of BIM for Indian Construction Industry. The discoveries and proposals of this research could be utilized by organizations to help survey their current BIM appropriation and distinguish if and how BIM ought to be embraced.

Self healing of concrete using bacteria

The present investigation is to obtain performance of concrete by the microbiologically induced special growth. Researchers with different bacteria proposed different concrete. Here an attempt was made by using the bacteria bacillus subtilis. This study showed a significant increase in the compressive strength due to the addition of bacteria. In self healing property is sucessfully achieved due to addition of bacteria.
