Drone usage to combat COVID -19: an extensive survey of how drones are used to contain COVID -19 pandemic

This paper evaluates the vital role of drones in the case of the current pandemic situation COVID – 19. The main objective of this paper is to assess how drones can play a crucial role at this time of crisis by containing the spread of the virus. Drones or unmanned vehicles have been in use for many purposes during natural calamities and disasters. These include earthquakes, flooding, Tsunami, etc. Here, in this paper, we emphasize how drones can be used to contain the current COVID -19 pandemic by spraying disinfectant on various surfaces. Since the coronavirus is a fast-spreading disease by means of person to person contact and surface contact, it has to be contained to a large extent to avoid further spreading of the virus. Drones play a crucial role in containing the surface spread of COVID – 19 by spraying disinfectants in hotspot areas such as malls, hospitals, high rise buildings, and other public places. Here, we have also discussed the importance of sanitization to stop the spread of the virus.

Life cycle analysis and embodied energy: A review

Buildings consume a massive amount of energy during the life cycle stages of construction, use and demolition. Total life cycle energy use in building can be classified into two components: embodied and operational energy. Embodied energy is worn in the processes of building material production, on-site delivery, construction, maintenance, renovation and final demolition. Operational energy is used up in operating the buildings. Studies have discovered the growing consequence of embodied energy characteristic in buildings and have established its relationship to carbon emissions. Present understandings of embodied energy are quite indistinct and differ widely, databases of embodied energy agonize from the problems of variation and preeminence. This paper discusses the various types of embodied energy considered in the life cycle analysis of building and various methods along with there applications and limitations in the Calculation of Embodied energy. This Paper forms Part of a project that also studies the embodied energy calculation of a building throughout its life cycle.

Assessment of stress levels among teachers of learners with special needs in primary schools in Mbarara District, Uganda

Teachers of learners with special needs in primary schools are faced with different stress levels associated with special needs learners, for example, limited support, poor students’ behavior, an unfriendly classroom environment, and poor professional competency. This paper explored the levels of stress among teachers handling learners with special needs in primary schools of Mbarara Municipality-Uganda. Census was used on the entire population of 53 teachers, purposive sampling was used to select schools handling learners with special needs. Data were collected using a cross-sectional survey design with quantitative and qualitative methods, a structured and open-ended questionnaire. The questionnaire composed of demographic section including a total number of years in teaching, positions held in school, highest academic qualification, and formal education undertaken for teaching special needs cases. Results show that majority of the respondents were males 27(50.9%), teachers who had an experience of teaching for ten years and above (56.6%), class teachers (52.8%), teachers with diplomas (54.7%), and teachers who had informal education on handling learners with special needs (56.6%). It was further discovered that teachers experienced high levels of stress due to limited support (M = 32.92, SD =9.52), and due to behavior of the students (M = 61.25, SD =15.92). The study recommends that teachers handling learners with special needs be supported by school administrators through refreshers courses to adequately handle learners in a friendly environment.

Flexible pavement

Flexible pavement is a type of pavement in which transmission of load takes place through the grain to grain. In India flexible pavements are widely used. It can be constructed with low initial cost but the maintenance cost is quite high due to occurrence defects throughout its design life. It consists of four layers and the design code for the design of flexural pavement is done by IRC-37. The linear elastic theory is used for the analysis of flexible pavement because the loading time on the highways is very short and provides almost an elastic behavior.
