Investigation on mechanical and tribological properties of Boron Carbide and CNT reinforced Copper based composites

The current work focuses on the influence and contribution of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube (MWCNT) and Boron Carbide (B4C) to the mechanical and corrosion properties of copper matrix composites. Different weight fractions of nano- B4C and MWCNT-reinforced copper composites were prepared using the ultrasonic-assisted stir casting methodologies. Various tests such as density, tensile, compression, hardness, and corrosion were conducted as per ASTM standards. The addition of reinforcements showed enhancements in the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of the composites due to the uniform dispersion of the secondary reinforcement in the copper matrix and the self-lubricating effect of the MWCNTs. Further, the weight of the composites decreased with the strength characteristics increasing leading to the enhancement in strength to weight ratios of the composite specimens. The effects of the nanoparticle distribution in the matrix and the dispersion of the composites were characterized using high-resolution scanning electron microscopy. The results of experiments highlight the use of experiential reinforcing limits of B4C on the mechanical behavior and corrosion characteristics of copper composites.

Performance evaluation of routing protocols for MANET through Simulation

Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is an autonomous system of mobile nodes that dynamically self-organize in arbitrary and temporary network topologies. Nodes in the network cooperate in multi-hop topologies to constrain their transmission power as they are usually battery-powered handheld devices. A node acts both as client or a server by forwarding and receiving packets to and from other nodes. Mobility of node needs a dynamic routing protocol and for this challenging issue of routing in ad-hoc networks an attempt has been made in this work to evaluate the performance of three protocols LEACH, AODV, TORA by taking average end-to-end delay, packet delivery fraction, and packet loss as evaluation parameters. In this paper 2 different scenarios for simulation are taken and then their results are analyzed. As per the differences that are found in the protocol mechanics which lead to significant performance differentials for these protocols then analysis of performance differentials is done using varying simulation time using the ns-2 network simulator. The result presented in this work is important for evaluation and implementation of routing protocols in MANET and through analysis weaknesses can be found in these protocols and their solutions can be proposed.

Screening of Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) and how VMI affects handwriting in 4th and 5th grade children of urban English medium schools

To screen 4th and 5th-grade school children from urban English medium schools for visual-motor integration(VMI) and how VMI affects handwriting. The objective of this paper is to determine the relationship between VMI and handwriting skill among children of 4th and 5th grade of English medium school in Nagpur city and the impact of visual-motor integration skills on handwriting legibility. Elementary school Children were assessed for Visual-Motor Integration by Beery Buktenika’s Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration (VMI) by the examiner. The Beery’s VMI and its two supplemental standardized tests i.e visual perception and motor coordination, provide one of the most valid and economical visual motor screening batteries available for preschool to adult ages. Results- This study shows that percentage of children having standard scores of VMI below average to very low scores was 26.48% which is similar to the standard score interpretation of Beery VMI in which 25% of children fall under the below average to very low standard score category. In this study we found that the percentage of the age group in below average was 12.52% with one standard deviation below the mean, low was 9.79%, and very low was 4.17%, respectively. Whereas in Beery’s VMI Standard Score Interpretation, the percentage of the age group in below average is 16%, low is 7% and very low is 2% respectively. From this, we concluded that in this study, there is a 2% to 2.5% increase in the low and very low-performance category. The results of the item of copying forms from the visual perception show a significant relationship with the quality of handwriting that confirmed the results of other studies these studies used the VMI ( Beery, 2004 ) and a copy of text to measure the quality of handwriting

Automated green house

Technology is playing a very important and useful role in all the fields like agriculture, industrial sector, Medical etc. Considering the Agriculture sector we need to monitor plants continuously. So, instead of doing all the work manually we can automate it so that there is less human intervention and time is saved and also less human effort. Thus, appropriate condition variables are defined properly. The variables of conditions include soil moisture, temperature, humidity, light etc. In our project we have implemented prototype of a automated greenhouse in which we control the parameters like humidity, temperature and soil moisture, using the sensors like DTH 11, LM 35 and also we take pictures of plant at particular periods of time and send it to mail, so that if a person wants to check the condition of plant that is, if it is diseased or healthy. If it is diseased then he can upload the picture of the plant to the PLANTIX app and can see what disease it is affected from and why it is caused. Therefore, the Owner can check if there is any problem related to the above conditions and he can take proper actions.

Transforming technical education: Initiatives for implementing faculty training

The teaching and learning ecosystem is undergoing a massive transformation, hence it is increasingly becoming challenging for the faculty to effectively interact and teach students. With rapid changes, evolution, and augmentation in technology, the undergraduate courses are predominantly diversified with emphasis on specialization. As a matter of fact, the prominence of technology as a part of human education cannot be denied. From the ancient days when technology was just going through its teething phase, till today, when most students are equipped with several portable technological devices at any given time, technology continues to drive educational competence to newer intellectual levels. The methods for all domains of education are also altering, newer ones are introduced while older ones being obsolete. This paper reviews the various aspects of training needs for faculty engaged in technical education. It concludes that today’s scenario demands technical faculties, with leadership qualities, enhanced soft-skills, able to face work pressures and new challenges, all this along with their domain knowledge as well as interdisciplinary exposure. This necessitates strategic initiatives for implementing faculty training and will surely enable us to witness a superior standard in technical education in the immediate future.

Impact of training and capacity building programme for the upliftment of women self help group members, in rural areas of Himachal Pradesh: A review of studies

Women constitute nearly half of India's population and play an important role in the social and economic development of the nation. But their role is marginalized in the context of national development. For, no country can sustain its development if it does not utilize properly its women as a productive resource. Women empowerment is regarded as a necessary condition to stabilize and in turn to have a sustainability of the development process. Empowerment of women includes higher literacy level and education for women, better health care, equal ownership of productive resources and more participation in economic and commercial sectors, improved standard of living and acquiring self-reliance, self-esteem, and self-confidence.
