The impact of taxi zoning on transportation system in Nagpur city

A taxi zoning system was for the first time introduced by the Derg region about 20 years ago. The Nagpur taxi transport service, which is believed to have begun from 2012 to 2016 with small cars has gone through various stages and systems before it reached the current level. The authorities of transport confirmed many times in the past that, the existing public transport system in Nagpur is critically inadequate to provide services for the existing travel demand. The overall performance of mass transport was constrained by many problems such as low transport service accessibility and standard, lack of taxi station, parking spaces and poor traffic management and control have remained the most critical issues to day. The need for adequate transport services has been kept on growing. This study investigates the reason which assesses the need to zone the taxi service in Nagpur city and the impact will result from the zoning in service delivery in the city. Structured questionnaire and survey interview have been prepared and targeted to three categories, control staff which includes a transport agency, traffic police, taxi association. The second category includes taxi drivers, terminal attendants, and third category include service users or passengers that use a taxi as the main mode in the southwest zone. The descriptive and exploratory research methods, quantitative research methods are employed to study the information gained from the structured questionnaire and interview questions. The collected data were classified, organized, and interpreted by using descriptive statistics including tables, frequency distributions, and percentages to give a digested picture of the data. The analysis of the data showed that taxi zoning transport service in Nagpur city may fail to achieve its purpose as stakeholders do not have any training concerning to system, there is a problem of implementation and it is also noted that 65 percent of mode share for two-wheelers contribute in the city, population is expected to grow annually by 3.8 percent, taxi drivers gain much more extra income when they cut trips, especially during rush hours, about 66.6 percent of respondents replied that they could not find taxi easily and most of the respondents say that inside facilities of taxi are not comfortable for customers. This study will help the taxi service industry to develop and design their future market strategy.

A new access control for multi-authority cloud storage

Storing data using cloud storage is a new trend with tons of features like availability, large network access, on-demand self-service etc. To access the data there is multiple access control scheme, but selecting the secure access control scheme is a major concern in cloud storage. In this paper, we presented a PMDAC-ABSC, an access control scheme for data which is based on ciphertext policy ABSC which is an analytical combination of attribute-based encryption and attribute-based signature. The proposed system can provide anonymous authentication, confidentiality, unforgeability, public verifiability, a fined-grained control measure and attribute privacy protection in a multi-authority cloud storage system.

Analysis of traffic characteristics of intercity highway

Majority of Indian National Highways and State Highways are two-lane roads. Due to heterogeneous traffic and increase in the number of vehicles every year, the speed, capacity and Percentile speed of these roads is very less. Nowadays these two-lane roads are upgraded into multilane highways. In this project an attempt is made to study the changes in traffic characteristics of road after its up gradation. Four traffic characteristics namely Spot Speed, Volume, Percentile Speed and Capacity are studied in this project. Data was collected from National Highway No. 361 which was two-lane road and is now up graded into four-lane road. The data of two-lane road and four-lane road was compared and analysed. Spot Speed is used to derive the distribution of traffic stream at a particular location. Flow or volume denotes the number of vehicles travelling on the road with respect to time. 15th, 50th, 85th percentile speed was calculated to study the traffic behaviour on road. Capacity was calculated by using Greenshield’s model.

Infection control

Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI) are a major global safety concern for both patients as well as healthcare professionals. Many factors promote infection among hospitalized patients – decreased immunity among patients; increasing variety of medical procedures and invasive techniques creating potential routes of infection; and the transmission of the drug-resistant bacteria among the crowded hospital populations where poor infection control practices can facilitate transmission. Dental care providers, in particular, are also at an increased risk as they are providing care by working with sharp instruments at very high speeds and limited access in an environment that is bathed in saliva and, in many instances, blood. Dental care professionals are at high risk of cross-infection while treating patients. The dental clinic is an environment where dis¬ease transmission occurs easily. Prevention of cross-infection in the dental clinic is, therefore, a crucial aspect of the dental practice, and dental clinic workers must adopt certain basic routines while practicing.

Comparative study on strength and economy of conventional and high-performance concrete using crushed sand and river sand

The concrete which incorporates wastes and is environment-friendly is called as green concrete. Green concrete is a revolutionary concept in the history of the construction industry. Concrete is an eco- friendly material and the overall impact on the environment per ton of concrete is limited. The paper focuses on the aspect of choosing a material for green concrete. It presents the feasibility of using fly ash, quarry dust, marble powder, plastic waste, and recycled concrete and masonry as aggregates in concrete. The use of fly ash and stone quarry dust in concrete contributes to a reduction in bad environmental repercussions. To avoid the pollution and reuse of waste material, the present study is carried out by completely replacing natural sand in concrete by stone quarry dust and undergoing strength and economical perspectives of concrete and especially in high-performance concrete.

Experimental study on sewage sludge ash in stone matrix asphalt

In our country one of the major distresses is due to the rain induced damages. It is a well established fact in developed countries that the water induced damages are expected to be less in a gap graded mix like stone matrix asphalt than traditional mixes. But application of SMA in India is very limited due to lack of proper specifications. Now a days, synthetic fibers, polymers are used as stabilizing additives in SMA. Here Sewage Sludge Ash (SSA) is used in Replacement of expensive imported synthetic fibers and polymer additives with renewable/waste material in SMA is an environmental necessity. Here, a study on the impact of waste material as addictives in Stone Matrix asphalt and their role in the volumetric and drain down characteristics of the mixture is proposed. Emphasis is also given to assess the effect of water immersion on the performance of SMA mixture with different additives. In the present study 60/70 penetration grade bitumen is used as binder and polymers are used as stabilizing additive. In this research sewage sludge ash as filler in SMA and their role to study the drain down characteristics of SMA at OBC and Marshall stability test to evaluate the stability and flow values when SSA is added as filler to OBC and OAC.
