Operations research in franchising decisions

Decision making as a progressive and analytical method in operations research serves the basis for estimating potential outcomes for any given subject matter. The objective of any rational business to stay competitive is to optimize while deriving maximum utility. For an F&B industry, adapting to customer tastes and preferences is a highly challenging task. An aggressive industry in itself, the feasibility of the many different options through quantitative and qualitative analysis holds prudence. To enhance decisions, assignment problem as a technique helps to derive relevant conclusions, as in this case, the optimal assignment of a franchise with respect to its location on the many influential factors. This justification provides a necessary breakdown of how any firm facing expansion can consider the options available.

Paradigm shift of administration in working finance – With special reference to Indian commercial vehicle industry

Working finance is concerned with the administration of current assets and current liabilities and their interrelationships. Working finance is the prime source to meet the routine expenses of the business. In the event of working finance being ill-managed; the viability of a company may be jeopardized. It is desirable that a company has neither inadequate working finance nor the excessive amount of it. Hence, there is an imperative need for effective management of working finance. This study attempts to examine the efficiency and effectiveness of working finance employed in the Indian commercial vehicle manufacturing sector. A cross-sectional analysis of the Indian commercial vehicle manufacturing industry from the period 2000-2001to 2009-2010 indicated that the mean value of working finance of Ashok Leyland Ltd. (ALL) was higher than that of other companies. However, the variation was more in Tata Motors Ltd (TML) than in other companies. The TML was superior in the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) with a value of 1255.94. This indicates that the operating efficiency of Tata Motors Ltd. is better than of others and the risk-bearing power is also higher while growing companies require huge amounts. Nowadays leading companies are able to generate cash within short periods of time. So they maintain their working finance at zero or negative level. That is one of the reasons why companies’ actual values of working finance are not matching trend values of working finance

Adaptive approach for sorting the list: Top hill method

The reason behind finding this method is to decrease the time of insertion. Sort by using pivot method of quick sort , binary searching and doubly linked list. By using all these methods in a combination this method can sort real-time data and increase the size of the list with the worst case of O(n).

Cost-Aware Secure Routing (CASER) protocol for wireless sensor networks

Lifetime optimization and security are two conflicting design issues for multi-hop wireless sensor networks (WSNs) with non-replenishable energy resources. In this paper, we first propose a novel secure and efficient Cost-Aware Secure Routing (CASER) protocol to address these two conflicting issues through two adjustable parameters: energy balance control (EBC) and probabilistic-based random walking. We then discover that the energy consumption is severely disproportional to the uniform energy deployment for the given network topology, which greatly reduces the lifetime of the sensor networks. To solve this problem, we propose an efficient non-uniform energy deployment strategy to optimize the lifetime and message delivery ratio under the same energy resource and security requirement. We also provide a quantitative security analysis on the proposed routing protocol. For the non-uniform energy deployment, our analysis shows that we can increase the lifetime and the total number of messages that can be delivered by more than four times under the same assumption. We also demonstrate that the proposed CASER protocol can achieve a high message delivery ratio while preventing routing traceback attacks.

Evaluation strength and durability characteristic of concrete use steel slag

In the present experimental study, the various strength properties like the compressive strength of concrete and also durability properties like Acid attack and capillary suction test on both ordinary concrete and steel slag Concrete, best steel slag concrete mix is carried out and compared with an ordinary concrete mix for economic and ecological study. In this study different percentage of steel, slag is used. steel slag as a replacement of fine aggregate in concrete and replaced in the range of 0%, 10%, 20 %, 30%, 40% and 50% by weight of fine aggregate in concrete. Mix design has been carried out for M25 grade using relevant Indian Standard IS- 10262: 2009. It was found that with an increase in the amount of steel slag in concrete up to 30% with increasing compressive strength as well as the split tensile strength of concrete. It was also found that durability like acid resistance and alkalinity test conducted for long durability show that addition of steel slag up to 30% certain limit replacement to fine aggregate with less effect compare to control mix

Air monitoring system

Air is one of the essential pillars that sustain life and existence of organisms itself. The air that we breathe in today is nowhere as clean as it used to be hundreds of years ago. Advancement of civilization and technology has led to the birth of numerous new methods that pollute and contaminate the air. Polluted air such as smog can cause various problems and slowly disrupt the normal working of the human body and begin a slow impending end. Hence, the air we breathe in is important to be analyzed and made sure we do not end up breathing in toxic substances or radioactive particles that affect the human body terribly ending in painful deaths. This project is to establish a multipurpose air monitoring system that can be used at homes, roads, nuclear facilities, and hospitals and it is implemented with the help of MQ135 sensor which is used to monitor the quality of air around us. A wifi module is attached the Arduino Uno through which the output is displayed. The architectural design is extendable to add on other devices. The scope and applications of this system are adaptable as per the needs arise over time. One of the major advantages of this system is, with the implementation of the Internet of Things they can be used on a larger scale.
