Ergonomic design of creel used for warping of beams in textiles

Ergonomics plays a vital role in productivity as it is directly concerned with the fatigue of the workers. Creel in textiles is a structure on which bobbins or reels are mounted. The number of bobbins is ranging from 400 to 1200. These are to be loaded manually. For this, a person has to sit & stand many times. Due to this, fatigue occurs. Absenteeism of workers also increases due to this fatigue. In this research work, modifications in the creel are suggested. The creel is now split into two parts. Upper part remaining fixed & lower part kept movable/ rotatable. Because of this arrangement, lower part can be taken on upper side & all the bobbins can be loaded in standing posture only. Hence fatigue is reduced a lot.

A review of the recent advances in Laparoscopic colorectal surgery, its present status, and logistic requirements for further advancement in the field

Background: The purpose of our study was to review the literature of advances made in the field of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and propose ways in which the roadblocks in the way to its wider acceptance can be removed. We studied online, the large body of Randomised trials, Meta-analyses and reviews that have been published in a bid to showcase the benefits of laparoscopically performed procedures, which include lesser pain, earlier recovery of bowel transit and shorter hospital stay. We found many well-designed studies that have demonstrated that oncological outcomes of laparoscopy and open surgery are similar. The percentage of patients treated with surgery using minimally invasive techniques is still quite small and there is significant inter-center variability. The number of surgeons possessing the necessary skill set needed for successful execution of a laparoscopic colorectal procedure is increasing slowly but steadily. Conclusions: We have attempted to describe advances in the field of laparoscopic colorectal surgery, single incision laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery. Finally, we have drawn broad conclusions about the efforts required to be made in order to increase the use of Laparoscopically performed colorectal surgery.

Investigation on bidirectional speed control of DC motor utilizing half bridge IC and PWM technique

Pressure cooker lid – Literature review

A kitchen without pressure cooker is like a human being without sole. Because nowadays it is not only the fashion but also it works with hand in hand with the working woman. This is because of saving in time & energy. It means that the pressure cooker has become an inevitable item in the kitchen. Easier handling will increase the life of the pressure cookers. From the ancient time, there were always innovations about cooking. The researchers always give advice over wastage of energy during cooking. Saving energy is always need of the nation and an approach for saving energy leads to the change in shape of a pressure cooker. These changes were in size of a pressure vessel, the shape of the lid or may be the provision of the coating to cooker. During the changes, alternative sources such as electrical and solar were also played an important role in energy saving. The shape of inner lid of pressure cooker used is elliptical in shape. This elliptical shape is for locking & easy to handle. The different alternatives for the shape of inner lid of pressure cooker were arising. But due to different restrictions, designers concentrated on changes in lid shape from circular to an ellipse. Also, the demerits of elliptical inner lid shapes are overcome by the hybrid shape of circular and elliptical i.e. circular shape having straight edges at the edges, as one of the alternatives. The modification suggested here is also serving the all purposes elliptical pressure cooker. The advantages obtained here are also giving better results for locking, increase in heat transfer area, reducing locking angle position in a measurable way and saving in waiting for time for food than the elliptical inner lid.

Sweeping of oil from ocean surface using adsorption techniques

In the present scenario, most of our water bodies are polluted due to the leakage of liquid petroleum or hydrocarbon into the marine ecosystem, due to human activity, termed as "oil spill". Oil spills may be due to leakage of crude oil from tankers, spills of refined petroleum and refuse their by-products, heavier fuels which are used by large ships like bunker fuel, or the spill of any oily refuse. An oil spill occurs a fire hazard in short span of time. Spilled oil contaminates water and also causes severe damage to aquatic animals. In addition, oil spills are responsible for air pollution. And nowadays, many industries are facing severe problems to separate the water from oil and also oil from water due to leakage. So, we came up with a product which is cost effective when compared to existing solutions and this can “separate the oil from the water on ocean beds and water from oil in industries using adsorption techniques”. Stainless steel mesh coated with microscopic particles like wax that repel oil but not water. Stainless steel mesh with silica nanoparticles that repel water but not oil. Where this product can be controlled using wireless remote control, automation and image processing.
