Parenting behavior among working parents of school children

A descriptive study was conducted to assess Parenting Behavior Among Working Parents of School Children at a selected area in Coimbatore. Using purposive sampling technique, 28 working parents of school children between 6 to 12 years were selected. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire on parenting behavior. Findings revealed that, out of the 28 parents majority (64.29 %) of parents had an appropriate parenting behavior and 35.71 % of them had a moderately appropriate parenting behavior. None of the parents had inappropriate parenting behavior. Chi-square value was computed to find out the association between baseline variables of parents and their parenting behavior. Findings revealed that, there was a significant association between the age of mothers (χ2 = 14.02) and parenting behavior at p<0.05 level of significance. None of the other baseline variables had any association with the parenting behavior among parents of school children.

Applications of phase change material in sustainable built environment: A review

The brisk money related change far and wide and restrictive ways of life force a steadily expanding interest for vitality. As a prime customer of the world's material and vitality resources of building and development improvement, the industry has a high potential in becoming newly capable, environmentally and condition well-disposed materials to limit the vitality usages in structures. The Thermal Energy Storage System (TES) with Phase change material (PCM) offers an engaging strategy for improving the warm mass and the warm solace inside a building. PCMs are the Latent Heat Thermal Storage (LHTS) materials with high vitality stockpiling thickness stood out from standard sensible warmth stockpiling materials. An assortment of substances like water, warmth exchange, oils and certain inorganic liquid salts, and solids like rocks, stones, and headstrong are utilized as the PCM and furthermore the decision of the substances to be utilized as a part of a specific material to a great extent relies on the temperature level of the application. The material solid which joins PCM in it upgrades the thermal mass of the building which diminishes the space molding vitality utilization and incredible temperature varieties inside the building. The warmth limit and high thickness of solid, when joined with dormant warmth stockpiling of PCM, gives a novel vitality sparing ideas for the supportable manufactured condition. Microencapsulation is the most recent and impelled advancement for the fuse of PCM into strong (solid) which makes finely scattered PCMs with the high surface territory for more noticeable and more noteworthy measure of warmth trade. This paper reviews open composition on Phase change materials in strong and its application. There is a necessity for sweeping exploratory and logical examinations on PCM applications with cementitious materials as the most extensively utilized development materials in structures.

Effectiveness of central line bundle care upon the knowledge and compliance staff nurses in the ICU

Introduction Central venous access is one of the commonest procedures performed in acute care settings. The competence of staff nurses in caring for patients with Central Venous Catheters is an important determinant of quality patient outcomes and safety of patients in Intensive Care Units. Materials & Methods A pre-experimental study was done to assess the effectiveness of Central Line bundle Care upon Knowledge and Compliance regarding the Central Venous Catheter (CVC) among thirty Staff nurses from ICU’s of a selected Hospital were selected using Purposive sampling. The intervention was the education of nurses on Central Line bundle care by teaching and demonstration of Care. Tools included the self-administered structured questionnaire for knowledge regarding CVC and a Practice Checklist adapted from the JCIA based on bundle Care. Results Majority of the Nurses belonged to the age group of fewer than 25 years (76.66%, 70%) and had an experience less than 2 years (83.33%, 60%). Education of Nurses on bundle care was done using power point and demo for the nurses. The Comparison of Pretest knowledge scores (M=11.73, S.D=4.49) and Post-test knowledge scores (M=18.03, S.D=3.72) regarding the Care of CVC of nurses showed a significant improvement with t value of 5.82 at p<0.001.

Effectiveness of chewing gum exercise upon gut motility among patients after open abdominal surgery

Postoperative patients often develop Paralytic Ileus which complicates their recovery. This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of chewing gum upon gut motility among patients after open abdominal Surgery Methods: This study was conducted using a quasi-experimental, posttest only design at a selected Hospital, Chennai. The study samples (60) were selected using simple random sampling and assigned to control (30) and experimental (30) groups randomly. Data was collected using Gastrointestinal resumption indicator to assess gut motility. Results: Majority of the patients undergoing open abdominal surgery received general anesthesia (93.3, 93.3%), had NG tube (70%, 76.6%), epidural analgesia for pain relief (66.6%, 83.3%). Non-gastric disease (63.3%, 63.3%), undergone non-gastric surgeries (63.3%, 63.3%) and had received opioids for pain management (63.3%, 63.3%) in control and experimental group respectively. The duration of time for the return of bowel sounds was less in the experimental group (Mean: 8+3.7) when compared to the control group (Mean: 14+5.03 with a “t” value of 5.5 ( p < 0.001). Factors such as Gastric Surgery, the presence of NG tube, non-opioid pain medication had an association with earlier return of gut motility in patients after open abdominal surgery. Chewing gum exercise may be recommended for all postoperative patients after open abdominal surgery.

Studies on the macro-invertebrate community structure, composition with various weed communities in selected ponds of Bihar

The study was designed to assess the quality of three fresh water ponds of district Aurangabad, Bihar, during the period of one year from Dec 2014 to Nov 2015. The three ponds under investigation namely Pond I (Umgaa), Pond II (Ranipokharadeo ) & Pond III (Patalganga) have historical and religious value. The study was conducted with respect to the Physico-chemical parameters of pond water including Temperature, pH, TA (Total alkalinity), Free CO2, DO (Dissolved oxygen), EC (Electrical conductivity), Transparency, and BOD (Biological oxygen demand) by following the standard protocols. The study was also conducted with respect to the Physico-chemical parameters of pond bottom sediments/soil including pH, OC (Organic carbon), N (nitrogen), P (Phosphorus) and K (Potassium) to observe the nutrient status of ponds. The results of the data obtained in various seasons, were evaluated and compared for all three selected ponds to quantify overall pond water quality status of the area for its possibility of being utilized as aquaculture. The Relative abundance of Macro-invertebrate species recorded from all the three ponds was also quantified. Since a reciprocal and manifold relationship exists between the macro-invertebrate fauna and macrophytic weed community of the pond ecosystem,. the macrophytic weed infestation condition of the pond was also analyzed.

Student perception of using micro-project as a teaching method

Active learning has attracted strong advocates among faculty looking for alternatives to traditional teaching methods. Microproject has been recently introduced as an add-on teaching method. It has been selected to be part of the curriculum to inculcate interpersonal skills. In this study, the researchers aim to investigate students’ pre and post behavioral changes while learning chemistry through micro- project. This paper discusses the feedback on students’ perceptions regarding the implementation and effectiveness of micro-projects. Findings show that most of the students show the positive perception of using it as a teaching method and agree to learn using the same method in the future.
