Abstract
Hypertension in pregnancy is one of the major complications in pregnancy, which increases the maternal mortality rate. The purpose of this study is to study the relation between anemia and hypertension for early detection and preventive measure. Method: Hemoglobin and Blood Pressure were measured in 80 women in their I, II, and III trimesters of pregnancy. Patients with infective, metabolic, or degenerative disease and patients with antihypertensive medication before pregnancy were excluded from the study. Result: In non-anemic women, blood pressure was within the normal range, whereas in the anemic group systolic blood pressure was found to be raised in the 3rd trimester. Conclusion: This study shows anemia can be well co-related with systolic hypertension and early detection of anemia can prevent further complications.
